📘 Gate COF Datasheet – Short Technical Note Available in this eBook
COF (Chip On Film) technology is widely used in modern LED/LCD TVs, mobile displays, and panels. The Gate COF (Gate Driver COF) is a critical component responsible for controlling the vertical scanning of the display.
🔹 What is Gate COF?
The Gate COF is a driver IC mounted on a flexible film (FPC) that is directly attached to the display panel. It sends gate signals to each row of pixels, allowing proper image formation on the screen.
🔹 Main Function
Controls row (vertical) scanning of the display
Activates each line of pixels sequentially
Works together with Source COF (horizontal driver)
Ensures proper timing and synchronization

🔹 Key Features
Ultra-thin flexible film mounting
High-speed signal processing
Low power consumption
High integration IC design
Direct bonding to panel (TAB/COF bonding)

🔹 Typical Pin Configuration
Although pinouts vary by manufacturer, common Gate COF pins include:
VGH (Gate High Voltage) → Usually +20V to +30V
VGL (Gate Low Voltage) → Usually -5V to -10V
VDD / VCC → Logic supply (3.3V / 5V)
GND → Ground
STV (Start Pulse) → Frame start signal
CKV (Clock Signal) → Gate clock
OE (Output Enable) → Enable signal
GOA Output Pins → Drive panel gate lines

🔹 Working Principle
Timing controller (T-CON) sends signals (STV, CKV)
Gate COF receives control signals
Sequentially activates each row of pixels
Source driver sends data to columns
Image is displayed line by line

🔹 Common Fault Symptoms
Half display missing
Vertical lines or no display
Screen flickering
Panel dead (no gate drive)

🔹 Repair Notes (For Technicians)
Check VGH & VGL voltages first
Inspect COF bonding for damage
Avoid heat damage during panel repair
COF is not easily replaceable (requires special machine)
Sometimes temporary fix possible using panel bypass method

⚠️ Important Note
Source and Gate COF is a sensitive and non-repairable component in most cases.its will only replaceable trough tab Bonding machine, Improper handling can permanently damage the panel. Always use proper tools and precautions.
